10 Days of Prayer 2022

“Jesus prayed… that they all may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I in You; that they also may be one in Us, that the world may believe that You sent Me,” John 17:21 NKJV.

Author Ellen G. White shares, “Christian unity is a mighty agency. It tells in a powerful manner that those who possess it are children of God. It has an irresistible influence upon the world, showing that man in his humanity may be a partaker of the divine nature, having escaped the corruption that is in the world through lust. We are to be one with our fellow men and with Christ, and in Christ one with God. Then of us can be spoken the words, ‘Ye are complete in Him,’” My Life Today, p 276.

The key to our fruitfulness, according to Jesus, is knowing Him, abiding in Him, connecting with him, relying on Him and seeking His will in everything we do. True fruit cannot be produced without true faithfulness in prayer. This is why prayer is at the heart of all we do in the church.

We, in the Texas Conference Prayer Ministries department, believe that Jesus wants to see John 17:21 fulfilled in our homes, churches, schools and throughout the Texas Conference. To fulfill John 17:21, we must begin and continue in prayer together.

As the school year begins, we invite you to join us for 10 Days of Prayer (August 17-27, 2022) with a special emphasis on Christian education.

Beginning August 26, 2022, at 7:00 pm and concluding August 27, 2022, at 7:00 pm, join us for Prayed-Up-24, a 24-hour prayer vigil via Zoom (Click Zoom links at top of page).  You can join us for an hour or multiple hours.

Below is a daily focus to guide you in this special season of prayer.

“My son, give Me your heart, And let your eyes observe My ways,” Proverbs 23:26 NKJV.

It is the privilege of every believer to take the life of Christ and the teachings of Christ as his daily study. Christian education means the acceptance, in sentiment and principle, the teachings of the Savior. It includes a daily conscientious walk in the footsteps of Christ. He consented to lay off His royal robe and crown and to come to our world in the form of humanity. He did so, that He might give to the human race a power that they could gain by no other means. What was that power? It was the power resulting from the human nature uniting with the divine. The power to take the teachings of Christ and follow them to the letter. In His resistance of evil and His labor for others, Christ was giving men an example of the highest education that is possible for anyone to attain. Adapted from Fundamentals of Christian Education, p.534

Education Focus: Praying that God will fill each school with His Spirit and guide the staff and teachers every day.

Today, we are praying for:

COGGIN MEMORIAL SCHOOL | Corpus Christi, Texas

      • Enrollment
      • New head teacher
      • Accreditation interim visit in May

CONROE ADVENTIST ACADEMY | Conroe, Texas

      • New staff and teachers
      • New school principal
      • Accreditation visit in November

Prayer Points

      1. Pray that we will give God our hearts, so that we can become obedient to Him.
      2. Pray that we will understand and actively observe the ways of the Lord.
      3. Give thanks to God for the opportunity He gives us to have a new heart to communicate with Him.

“I have been crucified with Christ; it is no longer I who live, but Christ lives in me; and the life which I now live in the flesh I live by faith in the Son of God, who loved me and gave Himself for me,” Galatians 2:20 NKJV.

Self must die to be counted as a follower of Christ. The apostle shares in Colossians 3:1, 3, NKJV, “If then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God …. For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God.” Continuing in 2 Corinthians 5:17, NKJV, it reads, “Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new.” Adapted from To Be Like Jesus, p.195.2

Are you allowing yourself to be crucified with Christ so that Christ can be seen only in and through you? Do you love the things that God loves? Are you beholding the righteousness of Christ? Have you acted on the invitation of the Spirit of God to control your mind and heart? Pray that as you mediate upon the law of God, which is perfect, it will convert your soul.

Education Focus: Praying that each student will have a true connection with Jesus.

Today, we are praying for:

KEENE ADVENTIST ELEMENTARY SCHOOL | Keene, Texas

      • Completion of the new gymnasium on campus
      • Parents and community to feel a true connection to God through the school

KILLEEN ADVENTIST JR ACADEMY | Killeen, Texas

      • Accreditation interim visit in May
      • Updates and renovations to campus

Prayer Points

      1. Pray that we will crucify self, so that Christ will live in us.
      2. Pray that we will have more faith and trust as the Spirit of God controls our heart and mind.
      3. Pray that as Seventh-day Adventist Christians, we will allow the Holy Spirit to present a positive image of Christ to our communities.

“How can a young man cleanse his way?By taking heed according to Your word. With my whole heart I have sought You;Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments!Your word I have hidden in my heart,That I might not sin against You,” Psalm 119:9-11 NKJV.

If we are to learn of Christ, we must pray as the apostles prayed when the Holy Spirit was poured upon them. We need a baptism of the Spirit of God. We are not safe, even for one hour, when we fail to surrender obedience to the Word of God. Adapted from Fundamentals of Christian Education, p.537.

Education Focus: Pray that God will use the influence of teachers and staff to bring students and their families into a closer relationship with Him.

Today, we are praying for:

GARLAND CHRISTIAN ADVENTIST SCHOOL | Garland, Texas

      • Accreditation visit in February
      • Students’ minds will be open to learning

HOUSTON ADVENTIST ACADEMY | Cypress, Texas

      • Demolition/remodeling/rebuilding of buildings affected by Hurricane Harvey
      • North American Division Accreditation – Spring 2023

Prayer Points

      1. Pray church members will purify their hearts and submit to God.
      2. Praise God for each opportunity given to rely on Him.
      3. Praise God for the strength He provides to resist the devil.
      4. Praise God for the daily victory to overcome sin and temptation.
      5. Pray that we hide God’s word in our hearts.
      6. Pray that our youth will live according to the Word of God.

“Search me, O God, and know my heart;Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me,And lead me in the way everlasting,” Psalm 139:23, 24 NKJV.

“There is nothing that Satan fears so much as that the people of God shall clear the way by removing every hindrance, so that the Lord can pour out His Spirit upon a languishing church,” Messages to Young People, p. 133.1. “No temptation has overtaken you except such as is common to man; but God is faithful, who will not allow you to be tempted beyond what you are able, but with the temptation will also make the way of escape, that you may be able to bear it,” 1 Corinthians 10:13 NKJV. “‘Not by might nor by power, but by My Spirit,’ Says the Lord of hosts,” Zechariah 4:6 NKJV.

Psalm 139:23-24 NKJV inspires us to submit ourselves to an analytical test. “Search me, O God, and know my heart; Try me, and know my anxieties; And see if there is any wicked way in me,
And lead me in the way everlasting.” God is longing for us to know our true state and seek spiritual healing. His heart longs for us to be cleansed and purified. We are all under confinement here on earth, but one day soon this confinement will end, and Jesus will come to take us home. When He does, will we be ready?

Do you have a longing for Jesus to lead you in the way everlasting? Are you seeking spiritual healing? Please prayerfully pray for God to search and know your heart and for Him to lead, so that you can know your anxieties and wicked ways that are in you.

Education Focus: Pray for the integration of the school curriculum with our Seventh-day Adventist beliefs as we seek to make Jesus relevant to our students each day.

      • Wisdom as the teachers embark on a new school year
      • Praise for adding a locally-funded position for the Pre-K/Kindergarten classroom

Prayer Points

      1. Pray that we would take David’s prayer in Psalm 139 personally, asking the Lord if there is anything standing between Him and us. If the Holy Spirit reveals something, pray that we would confess and make things right with God or others.
      2. Pray that we would live in faith, not fear, no matter the circumstances around us.
      3. Take a moment now to sit quietly before God, asking Him to bring to mind anything that might be separating you from Him.

“Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up,” James 4:10 NKJV

“What gives the proper level to the human mind? It is the cross of Calvary. By looking unto Jesus, who is the Author and Finisher of our faith, all the desire for self-glorification is laid in the dust. There comes, as we see aright, a spirit of self-abasement that promotes lowliness and humbleness of mind. As we contemplate the cross, we are enabled to see the wonderful provision it has brought to every believer. God in Christ … if seen aright, will level human exaltation and pride. There will be no self-exaltation, but there will be true humility,” Our High Calling, p. 114.2.

Education Focus: Pray for safety on our school campuses and safety for our educators and students.

      2. Pray for Christ’s righteousness to cover and fill us.
      3. Pray for our churches to grow financially, socially and spiritually.
      4. Pray for Jesus to make us humble and meek.

“I beseech you therefore, brethren, by the mercies of God, that you present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God, which is your reasonable service,” Romans 12:1 NKJV.

“We are under solemn obligations to God to keep the spirit pure and the body healthy, that we may be a benefit to humanity, and render to God perfect service,” Messages to Young People, p. 463.2. The apostle utters these words of warning, “Therefore do not let sin reign in your mortal body, that you should obey it in its lusts,” Romans 6:12 NKJV. He urges us onward by telling us that “… everyone who competes for the prize is temperate in all things.” 1 Corinthians 9:25 NKJV. He exhorts all who call themselves Christians “…present your bodies a living sacrifice, holy, acceptable to God…” Romans 12:1 NKJV. He says, “But I discipline my body and bring it into subjection, lest, when I have preached to others, I myself should become disqualified,” 1 Corinthians 9:27 NKJV. Adapted from Counsels on Health p. 76.2. “A healthy mind depends to a great degree on what your thoughts continually dwell on, your diet, exercise, and healthy relationships.” (https://www.revivalandreformation.org/100days/blog/81)

      1. To present my body a living sacrifice to God.
      2. To invite the Holy Spirit to transform my mind.
      3. Pray that the Holy Spirit will lead us in giving of reasonable service to God.
      4. Take a more wholistic approach to my life and service to God.

“If you then, being evil, know how to give good gifts to your children, how much more will your Father who is in heaven give good things to those who ask Him!” Matthew 7:11 NKJV.

Through the ministry of the angels, the Holy Spirit is enabled to work upon the mind and heart of the human agent and draw him to Christ…. But the Spirit of God does not interfere with the freedom of the human agent. The Holy Spirit is given to be a helper, so that man may cooperate with the Divine. It is given to Him to draw the soul, but never to force obedience. Adapted from That I May Know Him, p. 57.2. The influence of the Holy Spirit is the life of Christ in the soul. We do not now see Christ and speak to Him, but His Holy Spirit is just as near us in one place as another. It works in and through everyone who receives Christ. Those who know the indwelling of the Spirit reveal the fruit of the Spirit—love, joy, peace, long-suffering, gentleness, goodness and faith. Adapted from That I May Know Him, p. 57.5.

Prayer Points

      1. Thank God For the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
      2. Yield to the molding influence of the Holy Spirit.
      3. Pray for the continual infilling of the Holy Spirit.

“Let nothing be done through selfish ambition or conceit, but in lowliness of mind let each esteem others better than himself. Let each of you look out not only for his own interests, but also for the interests of others. Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus,” Philippians 2:3-5 NKJV.

When the love of Christ is enshrined in the heart, like sweet fragrance, it cannot be hidden. Its holy influence will be felt by all with whom we come in contact. The Spirit of Christ in the heart is like a spring in the desert, flowing to refresh all and making those who are ready to perish, eager to drink of the water of life. Love to Jesus will be manifested in a desire to work as He worked for the blessing and uplifting of humanity. It will lead to love, tenderness and sympathy toward all the creatures of our heavenly Father’s care. Adapted from Steps to Christ p. 77.3, 77.4.

“The youth need to be impressed with the truth that their endowments are not their own. Strength, time, intellect, are but lent treasures. They belong to God, and it should be the resolve of every youth to put them to the highest use. He is a branch, from which God expects fruit; a steward, whose capital must yield increase; a light, to illuminate the world’s darkness,” Education, p. 57.5. “Every youth, every child, has a work to do for the honor of God and the uplifting of humanity,” Education p. 58.1.

“Higher than the highest human thought can reach is God’s ideal for His children. Godliness—godlikeness—is the goal to be reached. Before the student there is opened a path of continual progress, an object to achieve, a standard to attain that includes everything good, pure, and noble. Students will advance as fast and as far as possible in every branch of true knowledge. But their efforts will be directed to objects as much higher than mere selfish and temporal interests as the heavens are higher than the earth,” True Education, p. 12.5.
